How to Choose a Belt Scale Controller

The best controller depends on the weighing application, number of load cell channels, speed signal, analog output, relay output, communication protocol, display size and whether the system needs only totalizing or closed-loop feeding control.

For conveyor belt scales, focus on stable flow display, belt speed input, totalizing and communication. For weigh feeders and screw conveyors, the controller may also need feeding control logic and output signals.

Information for a Fast Selection

  • Application: belt scale, weigh feeder, coal feeder or screw conveyor
  • Load cell quantity and sensor resistance
  • Speed sensor type and signal range
  • Required analog, digital and relay outputs
  • PLC communication protocol and network requirement
  • Power supply and installation environment

FAQ

What is a belt scale indicator used for?

A belt scale indicator receives load cell and speed sensor signals, calculates belt load, flow rate and accumulated weight, and displays production data for conveyor belt weighing systems.

Can these controllers communicate with a PLC?

Many WiseStone controllers support industrial communication options such as RS485, Ethernet RJ45, Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP. The exact interface depends on the model and project configuration.

What is the difference between a belt scale indicator and a feeder controller?

A belt scale indicator is mainly used for flow display and totalizing, while a feeder controller may also provide control functions for feeding rate, output signals and process control.

What information should I send for model selection?

Please send the application type, load cell quantity, speed sensor signal, power supply, communication protocol, I/O requirement and site photos or drawings.
